Portugal Masters European Tour 2021 Postponed

The Portugal Masters 2021 edition has been postponed due to the travel difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament scheduled to take place at the Dom Pedro, Victoria Golf Course in Vilamoura from 29 April- 2nd May 2021, European Tour announced on Friday. 


The Portugal Masters replaced on the schedule by the Tenerife Open, which will be moved from its original date 15-18 April to 29 April- 2nd May at Golf Costa Adeje.


It added that an alternative event will be held in Europe and the details will be announced in due course.


European Tour Chief Executive Keith Pelley said in a statement, we are upset about the ongoing challenges with international travel, which caused the Portugal Masters to be postponed.


Since 2007, everyone involved in the tournament in Portugal and the European Tour has worked very hard to deliver the tournament, which has become an important part of our schedule.


Unfortunately, the event will not be held next month at all. So we are now considering the possibility of rescheduling the event later this year. "


Last year in September, George Coetzee won his 5th European Tour title at the Portugal Masters.
