The tournament first appeared 35 years ago as the Aetna Challenge in 1988 and it is operated by Octagon. In 2016 the event prize money was $1.6 million and the winner’s share of $240,000. 

Since its inauguration in 1988, the Chubb Classic captivated big golf players in one place. Lee Trevino, Gary Player, and World Golf Hall of Fame members Fred Couples, Lanny Wadkins, and Bernhard Langer won this competition. Steve Stricker won this tournament last year and will be back this year to defend his title.
